Motley Mondays: 34 Days Until Florida

It's pretty insane to me that there are so time left before my husband and I move to Florida. I think I'll dedicate today's post about things in Florida I look forward to most:

5. Year round ice cream weather. You know what rocks more than summer? 8 months of it.

4. Central air. Goes well with those 8 months of summer.

3. Going to tourist attractions casually. Universal Studios? SeaWorld? Disney World? Major beaches? Oh yeah, you mean those things we do on weekends.

2. Lower cost of living. In Chicago, I can find a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment (without central air, without washer and dryer in unit, without parking included) for $1,500. In Florida, I used to live in a 4 bedroom 3 bath apartment (with central air, with washer and dryer in unit, with parking included) for less than $900. Yeah, that's just an example of the savings, not including the exorbitant taxes paid here in Chicago.

1. Friends and Family. Yes, I am moving away from my parents. I am indeed sad about this. Also, I just spent 20 years with them. My sister, her kids, my husbands family, and both our friends are in Florida, and we will live no more than 30 minutes away. That's pretty amazing.

That's why we put on sunscreen, Katniss.
Florida, I'll see you soon.

When Did I Have 95 Days Left?

It's 95 days until my CURRENT moving date to go to Florida. Not sure if this date will change, but it depends on a lot of things: when the house is bought, if I find a job in advance, and if I can stop working a week or two early. So for now, we're sticking to 95.

Right now I'm doing a "Spike Episodes Only" Buffy Marathon every day before bed (like 3 episodes). It's fun because it's been a long time since I'd seen the series, and Spike is my favorite character. I only just finished watching the ULTRA creepy episode "Hush" with those delightful Gentleman.
They had class, I'll give them that.
I always wanted there to be more Spike content since really he was the first vampire I ever really liked. What about Angel? Fuck. Angel. What about you, did you ever watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer? Was Spike a character you liked?

When Did I Start Packing?

So this weekend, with the help of my parents, I was able to pack 8 boxes in 4 hours time. Not bad in my opinion. How about labeling boxes? I didn't want to have some boring system so I made this:

Will Graham (NBC): Fragile Paper Related
But seriously, little Graham Cracker is fragile...
Tony Stark (Avengers): Fragile Tech Related
I know I fear my tech breaking...
Khan (Star Trek Into Darkness): Fragile Collectibles/Glass Related
But you sure can break these boxes...
Hannibal (NBC): Kitchen Items
Mmmm, spleen!
Spike (Buffy): Bedroom Items
It's called pillow talk, honey.
Watson (BBC): Bathroom Items
That's bullshit, and bullshit belongs in the bathroom.
Damon (The Vampire Diaries): Living Room Items
I'm sorry...Spike already called the bedroom.
Loki (Marvel): Mixed Box of Items
Happy to be throwing a wrench in the organization, I see...
I think it's more fun this way, plus I get to doodle on boxes, and confuse the living hell out of people.

"Adela, where does this box go?"
"Hannibal needs to go to the kitchen or he'll get cranky."

"What about this one?"
"We have to open Loki, he's a cluster-fuck."

"Where should I take Will Graham?"
"Careful with him...he's sensitive."

When Did I Start A Count Down?

104.

That's how many days I have until I move to Florida.

I've been pretty wrapped up in everyday things that keeping an updated blog has been too much. No excuses, it was my bad. So let's just skip the groveling for forgiveness and go right to the list of new things going on!

  • Today I'm at work (yes I know it's Sunday) and if you didn't know, I no longer have Mondays off anymore. Hooray.
  • I saw the first episode of Siberia (NBC). So far, they have peaked my interest.
  • I rescued a bird that was in the parking lot of my job. A tired, hot, and bleeding cockatiel. $700 of medical bills and a Petsmart visit later, she's all mine and much healthier. Have a look my pretty girl. Her name is Ursula.
  • I watched Man of Steel. Now, a lot of people have grievances about the film, but for me as a whole I found it made me fall in love with a character I've never liked in the DC universe. Also Henry Cavill....
  • I continue my obsession with Benedict Cumberbatch after seeing Star Trek Into Darkness by watch all his European interviews. My favorite was on the Graham Norton show on BBC. He was there with Chris Pine and the Cumberbitches were there full force. That man Khan have me any day. GET IT!?
  • James left Chicago May the 4th (be with you). It's been 58 days since then, and I'm trying to stay positive and upbeat, so I dance to this. Katy Perry saves my sanity.

So that's essentially what's been going on on my end. What's been up with you guys?
